I started this post mid-summer and got busy and had to shelf it. Now I'm looking back on the pictures feeling like summer (obviously my favorite season) has flown by and fall is just around the corner.
We are going through a season of change around here. Seems that our good times are usually followed by bad times. Although the summer has been busy, it's been a juggling act of trying to spend enough time with all our little ones and handle the stress of not only caring for a child on a ventilator, but attempting to venture out with a child on a ventilator. Not an easy task. Throw two active toddlers into the scene. Even more stress and chaos.
Ever since the Florida revival when Gabe de-sated in front of everyone - twice - and we had to bag and suction him in front of everyone (oh, only thousands of people) I have had an honest fear of taking him out in front of people again. I am not ashamed of Gabe. However, it was probably one of the most humbling experiences in life, though, to HAVE to stand in front of all those people and loudly declare with the whirl of the suction machine and the ventilator, "My child is different. His needs are extremely complex. Everyone, look!"
Our options continue to be limited most of the time as far as where we can go and who can go. One day this week Brooke was playing with her doll house and acted out a scene with her dolls, saying, "Faith is going in the car, but who's staying back with the baby?" That's pretty much our life. Who's staying back with Gabe? Do we have the energy today to pack Gabe up in the car with the rest of the family to take a drive? This week the answer has been no because we lost our night nurse. Yeah, we're back to no sleep. We were doing so good with the sleep thing.
Unfortunately the timing is very bad in that Brooke is getting reading to start Pre-K at the end of this month. I am envisioning sleepless nights and trying to get her off to school in the morning. :-( We are praying for another good night nurse to come along.
With all that said, enjoy the video... "It might be a crazy life, but it's our life" (J&K+8) :)

Jack and I watched the video together and we loved it! Your little girls are so beautiful. I'm glad you were able to have some fun family time together this summer - albeit not without its stressful "Gabe moments". Gabe looks good and he looks happy - a testament to how much he is loved by his family.
As I type this, I'm psyching myself up to get Jack and all his stuff ready to go out to dinner tonight -- altogether as a family for my husband's birthday. I'm tired just thinking about it!
I hope you get a night nurse back on board soon.
Love,
Ann

LOVE the video. You have the cutest little family on the planet :o) I don't think you could have picked a better name for Faith - from the pictures she reminds me of another silly Faith Elizabeth I know! hehe!
